Speaking during his opening monologue on "Hannity" Tuesday night, Sean called-out the mainstream media's hysterical coverage of the Paul Manafort trial; adding these charges have "nothing to do" with President Trump or Russian Federation collusion.

The prosecutors claimed that the detail and attention paid to each item Tuesday would prove that Manafort directed payment for each and that they were each personal rather than business expenses, and that detailing specific expenditures and how he paid for them was necessary to demonstrate Manafort's income, which they say he underreported on his tax returns.

During his opening statement, Assistant U.S. Attorney Uzo Asonye told the jury that Manafort considered himself above the law as he funneled tens of millions of dollars through offshore accounts.

Kathleen Manafort departs from U.S. District Court following the opening day of Former Trump Campaign Manager Paul Manafort's trial on bank and tax fraud charges stemming from Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of Russia's role in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, in Alexandria, Virginia, U.S., July 31, 2018.

The charges against Manafort grew from Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, and whether any Americans conspired with those efforts.

"The brown is python, for Mrs. Manafort", the elder Katzman said of a picture of the brown leather jacket that the feds entered into evidence Wednesday.

Manafort's attorneys are putting the blame for any illegal activity on his business associate, Rick Gates.

Prosecutors then displayed a copy of an invoice on the screen that was different from the others Jacobsen had sent Manafort over the years.

The government also presented its first witness, Tad Devine, a political consultant who recalled his work with Manafort in Ukraine to help pro-Russian political figure Viktor Yanukovych, who was swept from power and fled to Russia in 2014.

Special counsel attorneys entered into evidence various invoices to show how Paul Manafort paid for luxury expenses - including home renovations - with the Federal Bureau of Investigation agent authenticating the items found in Paul Manafort's home and seized. The added evidence also appears to include documents related to bank accounts in Cyprus.

Prosecutors said on Wednesday they planned to wrap up with testimony from two more vendors on Thursday before calling people who worked as bookkeepers and accountants for Manafort. Manafort was the store's only customer to pay for suits using wire transfers from foreign accounts.

Defense lawyers also sought to address head-on Manafort's wealth and the images of a gaudy lifestyle that jurors are expected to see.

The prosecutors are trying to paint a picture of Manafort for the jury that he is a man consumed by money, a man who would willingly and knowingly lie on IRS documents to circumvent taxes and keep more of that money. "We do not dispute that".

The prosecution's strategy may be complicated by judge Ellis' restrictive perimeter on evidence.

"By the standard of a bootlegging mob boss whose outfit was responsible for multiple murders, you could argue that Capone got off pretty easy", said Jonathan Eig, the author of "Get Capone: The Secret Plot That Captured America's Most Wanted Gangster". The charges against Manafort largely pre-date his five months of work for the Trump campaign, some of them as campaign chairman.
