The deadly 6.9-magnitude quake hit the Indonesian island on Sunday night, leaving tens of thousands of people homeless.
Disaster agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said in a statement that information being provided by different agencies needs to be complete before it can be cross-checked and officially verified.
The strong aftershock, measured at magnitude 5.9 by the US Geological Survey, caused panic, damage to buildings, landslides and injuries.
"Our latest update is that 319 people died", said Indonesia's chief security minister Wiranto, who like many Indonesians goes by one name, adding that rescue efforts were ongoing and complicated by aftershocks.
Scientists say the powerful Indonesian natural disaster that killed almost 400 people lifted the island it struck by as much as 25 centimetres (10 inches).
Almost 1,500 people have been hospitalized with serious injuries and more than 156,000 have been displaced due to the extensive damage to thousands of homes.

Gusti Lanang Wisnuwandana, an official with the Mataram Search and Relief Office, told Antara that medical and rescue workers were struggling to deal with survivors terrified of being indoors after the quake.
A July 29 quake on Lombok killed 16 people.
Spokesman Arifin Hadi said people need clean water and tarpaulins most of all.
"We were stuck in the traffic while delivering aid, suddenly it felt like our auto was hit from behind, it was so strong", witness Sri Laksmi told AFP.
He said they had later found and treated 40 people with broken bones, cuts and bruises.
