Was Russia listening? Democrat hack followed Trump speech

Special Counsel Robert Mueller Indicts 12 Russians for Hacking

USA intelligence agencies have said the interference was aimed at helping the presidential campaign of Republican Donald Trump and harming the election bid of his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton.

Rosenstein noted that the people named in the indictments hacked the DNC and the chairman of Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman John Podesta.

The Kremlin denied anew it tried to sway the election.

The dates and content of the messages described in the indictment between the USA person in regular contact with senior members of Trump's presidential campaign and Guccifer 2.0 match verbatim two screenshots Stone published on his website in March of 2017 of the direct message exchange he had with Guccifer 2.0 on Twitter in 2016.

But the indictment identifies the defendants as officers with Russia's Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff, also known as GRU. It says the information acquired by "spearfishing" and other hacking techniques was released via online fronts DCLeaks and Guccifer 2.0.

Special Counsel and Federal Bureau of Investigation director Robert Mueller indicted 12 members of the GRU, Russia's military intelligence agency over interfering in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Mueller did not allege that Trump campaign associates were involved in the hacking effort, that Americans were knowingly in touch with Russian intelligence officers or that any vote tallies were altered by hacking.

The hacking group also conspired to break into state boards of election, data firms that create election software, and other voting-related targets, according to the indictment.

US indictments against a dozen Russian intelligence officers on Friday provided detailed technical evidence to back up allegations of Russian hacking and leaking of information to influence the 2016 USA presidential election. "Free and fair elections are hard-fought and contentious and there will always be adversaries who work to exacerbate domestic differences and try to confuse, divide and conquer us".

Bill Johnson, R-6 OH , urged the Senate to "to act quickly to consider and approve" Kavanaugh's nomination. All three voted to confirm Gorsuch and are up for re-election in states that Trump won handily.

The White House echoed some of those sentiments.

Cat and mouse: Though the indictment says they used hundreds of different e-mail accounts with fake names to handle Bitcoin payments and cover their tracks, investigators linked messages from "several dedicated email accounts" to corresponding transactions on the Bitcoin blockchain.

As of Friday, the inquiry has indicted 32 people - mostly Russian nationals in absentia - as well as three companies and four former Trump advisers. They are accused of taking part in a hidden but powerful social media campaign to influence public opinions in America before the November 2016 elections.

It was the most detailed U.S. accusation yet that Russian Federation meddled in the election with the eventual aim of trying to boost Republican Trump's campaign.

"I would call it the rigged witch hunt", Mr. Trump said.

"Russia, if you're listening, I hope you're able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing, I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press", Trump said in a July 27, 2016 news conference.

A few hours before the indictments were announced, Trump described the Mueller investigation as a "rigged witch hunt" that is hurting the United States relationship with Russian Federation.

The indictment, secured by Special Counsel Robert Mueller in his investigation of Russian involvement in the 2016 election, was issued three days before US President Donald Trump meets Russian President Vladimir Putin for a summit in Helsinki. Was the plan to approach Team Trump with the material if they succeeded in uncovering it?
