Also called Feast of Breaking the Fast, Eid al-Fitr is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims around the world.

Muslim worshippers who had fasted for a month took part in Eid prayers across the country early in the morning of the festive occasion of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, the holiest month in the Islamic calendar.

The decision was announced at a press conference after a meeting of the committee held in Karachi under the chairmanship of Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman.

In case the new moon is not sighted today then the First Day of Eid al Fitr 2018 will be on Saturday June 16, 2018.

The celebration is a public holiday in many Muslim countries, but not one in the United Kingdom, despite a campaign for it to be recognised in 2014.
