Parties Meet Amid Slim Hopes of Saving Iran Nuclear Deal

Iran asks Europe what it can offer to keep it in the nuclear deal after U.S. pullout

Since President Donald Trump pulled the US out last month, European states have been trying to find a way to ensure Iran still gets the economic benefits to persuade it to stay in the deal.

European Union leaders have united behind the accord, with Brussels working on measures, including banning EU-based companies from complying with re-imposed USA sanctions and urging governments to make money transfers to Iran's central bank to avoid fines. The Europeans, for example, are united in opposition to these unilateral economic restrictions, and both Russian Federation and China have no interest in playing along either.

The other countries involved in the so-called Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action Joint Commission met Friday for the first time without the US after Iran called for an urgent meeting of the body in Vienna.

Trump has long complained about the terms of the deal, although the five other signatories - Britain, France, Germany, Russia, and China - had urged Washington to remain within the agreement.

Some Western companies have already quit Iran or said they may have to leave because of USA sanctions.

Trump also condemns that Iran is facilitating its nuclear weapon program even under the JCPOA agreement and United States should stipulate more bigotry sanctions on Iran.

If a signatory of the nuclear deal absolves itself of responsibility and places it on a business that will, nearly for certain, have to leave Iran, then who this is aimed at? French President Emmanuel Macron told the German paper Der Spigel that the minatory effect of withdrawal of United States from the deal could lead to a "war".

"If the Europeans hesitate in responding to our demands, Iran is entitled to resuming its nuclear activities", he said. Among other things, Trump said the deal needed to address Iran's ballistic missile program and involvement in regional conflicts, while the others had argued those issues could be negotiated separately.

"European banks should safeguard trade with the Islamic Republic". "What we need is a safe atmosphere for them to do business with Iran, and we expect Europeans to provide them that security". We think the world is a safer place because of it.

But US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday threatened the Islamic Republic with "the strongest sanctions in history" if it did not change its behaviour in the Middle East. "We made the [nuclear accord] in good faith and we remained committed to [it] and they just pulled out.so name me a single reason why we should enter into a new negotiation with the USA or a new deal?" It subjected Iran to the rigorous global inspection regime headed by worldwide Atomic Energy Authority (IAEA) and linked the gradual lifting of worldwide sanctions on Iran in lieu of the latter's cooperation in adhering to the JCPOA.
