OddsBreaker: Tony Bellew Crushes David Haye in Heavyweight Rematch

David Haye

GETTY David Haye takes on Tony Bellew on Saturday evening

Fourteen months after Bellew first defeated Haye in a grudge match, the former cruiserweight had an encore at the O2 Arena, the same venue where Bellew got the first win in their rivalry.

Bellew put Haye down twice in third round and again in the fifth.

"David Haye goes down a better fighter than me", Bellew said, who admitted he was broken after the death of his brother-in-law last August. He boxed really good.

Bellew wins by technical knockout in the fifth round.

The round and the fight heated up in the final 30 seconds of the round with Haye landing several shots on the ropes with Bellew firing back with his own and pursuing Haye who was on the retreat. Tony Bellew fought a great fight - strategic. Bellew continued to batter Haye throughout round four as Haye appeared to have reinjured his right leg. "Nobody in the David Haye business should ever want to see him fight".

He waited for the Londoner to miss wildly with a right then pounced to deliver two booming right hands. But I won, against all the odds. Every punch I threw was for you. Haye just about made it to his feet and wanted to carry on but the referee Howard Foster waved the fight off, having seen enough. But he made it back into the ring, against all odds, a diminished but still unsafe fighter hoping to even the score and get a shot at one of Joshua's titles.

Pelicans back home for game 3
"We got a lot of open looks and really good opportunities (in the first two games) - we just need to capitalize on them tonight". INJURY UPDATE: Smart said Wednesday that his thumb remained "a little sore" after Game 1 but added "I'm good to go" for Game 2.

Note that you can only watch Haye vs Bellew on a single device or platform at any given time - there's no cheeky workaround that lets you go in with your mates.

"I didn't feel great in there tonight and I lost to the better man".

The retired former middleweight and light heavyweight champion did not dismiss making a one-off return but warned promoter Eddie Hearn that he may have already missed his chance to make it happen.

Ward (32-0) has not fought in close to a year and says his focus remains on roles in Creed 2 - the sequel to a film Bellew also featured in - and as host of boxing reality television series The Contender. "I love my family so much and this was for them, too".

At 37 and having proved increasingly injury prone, Haye's reputation has been left beyond fix after successive defeats by an opponent who was a light- heavyweight, while he reigned as the WBA heavyweight champion at his peak.

James Tennyson enjoyed a stoppage victory over Martin Joseph Ward with a handsome combination of punches bringing the fight to an end.
