Google Maps Get Explore Tab To Act As Guide To Users

Google I/O Update: Google Maps 'For You' Section, Augmented Reality Features Announced

Google Maps to get updated with new Assistant, AR, and recommendation features

Another Google Maps feature called "Your Match" will suggest restaurants and other venues that are specifically catered to the end-user through the power of machine learning. The platform is getting some new features focused on highlighting places and activities Google's algorithms think you'll like, including a new "For you" tab that's an automatically-populated list of spots you might want to check out. It will also show you nearby business and place names for visual reference.

Google did not give a timescale on when Google Maps might get this feature, nor whether it will be an Android exclusive, but we're hoping it might be added to Android P.

To solve another pain point of choosing a place to eat with friends, Google has created a feature that enables users to create a shared short list of options. And of course, once a decision has been made, you can use Google Maps to secure a reservation and book a ride.

New Details Revealed for Nintendo Switch Online
And, about 18 months on from its original release, the Nintendo Switch's online service is finally due to launch in September . Nintendo is continuing to offer online play for free to Nintendo Account holders until the paid service launches this year.

Places will have an automatic "match" score that shows Google's best guess as to how much you'll enjoy them as a percentage. Rather than asking users to rely on that little blue dot on their screen to help orient themselves, Google is instead leveraging your smartphone camera to help you determine exactly where you are. You can long press on places and your group mates can vote to keep it in or out.

Google had introduced "Google Lens" last year, and during its keynote at this year's Google I/O, the company announced some new features for it, plus some other Google Lens-related news.

Google Maps is adding a new "For you" section, but more broadly it is making the service more personal with machine learning to serve better recommendations. It doesn't matter if a Chinese restaurant has a 4.9-star rating if you only like pizza, and that's the problem that Google is trying to solve with a new "For You" tab. But now you will see new trending lists, which includes things like the Foodie List, a compilation of locations that have been rated well by local experts and trusted publishers.
