Lawyers for Trump's Personal Attorney Set for Friday Court Appearance

"Clearly, the prosecutors regard Trump and Cohen as potential co-conspirators", he said.

Cohen has not yet been charged with any crimes, but at this point it's a foregone conclusion. Sad!

According to The New York Times, which previously reported the story, the phone call took place as both men's attorneys began a courtroom battle with the US Attorney's Office in Manhattan over the raid of Cohen's office and home on Monday.

"We're pretty confident there are thousands of privileged communications", Cohen's lawyer Todd Harrison told the judge.

Each search warrant specifically describes how records seized that may fall into attorney-client privilege will be filtered out by a team that's walled off from the federal agents who have conducted the investigation, the prosecutors wrote.

But when the judge demanded that Cohen's lawyers provide some proof that Cohen has any other clients beyond the commander in chief, they twice came back empty-handed. Cohen has said he made the payment out of his own pocket and without Trump's knowledge or that of his company or former campaign.

Following the hearing Friday, the judge ordered the parties to return to court Monday for another hearing, where Cohen will have to be present.

"If a lawyer is involved with a client in a criminal conspiracy, the crime-fraud exception to the attorney-client privilege strips their communications of privileged status", he said, and if Cohen had incriminating items in his office, he's not shielded from liability, even if he's a lawyer.

Cohen has been ordered to appear in federal court on Monday to help answer questions about his law practice Among the questions are the $1.6million paid to former Playboy model Karen Mc Dougal and $130,000 paid to porn star Stormy Daniels

The new details from the warrant reveal that prosecutors are keenly interested in Mr. Cohen's unofficial role in the Trump campaign.

The filing, signed by acting U.S. Attorney Robert Khuzami in the Southern District of NY, also says that while the current investigation was referred by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, the NY investigation "has proceeded independent" of Mueller's work.

Joanna Hendon, a new lawyer for Trump who appeared in court, said her law firm, Spears & Imes LLP, was engaged by Trump on Wednesday and she was "not prepared" to present her argument.

On Saturday, Trump's longtime personal attorney took to Twitter to deny a bombshell report that he "secretly made a late-summer trip to Prague during the 2016 presidential campaign" - a development that, if true, would corroborate a key claim in former British spy Christopher Steele's dossier detailing the Trump campaign's coordination with Russian Federation during the 2016 presidential election.

Hendon also told the judge that she has conveyed her concerns about the use of a "taint team" in the Cohen raids.

A lawyer for Daniels, Michael Avenatti, suggested his customer may function as the niche of some of those supplies, as well as her pursuits wanted coverage also.

Stephen Ryan, a lawyer for Mr. Cohen, referred to his earlier description of the raid as "completely inappropriate and unnecessary".

Investigators have also been looking into a blueprint of tax evasion, fraud, money laundering as well as other possible offenses in Cohen's agreements, for example his work to Trump plus several true estate trades the origin mentioned.
