Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu: Centre being unfair to Andhra

TDP member N Sivaprasad with other party leaders raise slogans demanding special status for the state of Andhra Pradesh during the budget session of Parliament in New Delhi

Chandrababu Naidu's political party quits BJP-led National Democratic Alliance

Even earlier, TDP began protesting against the centre after the Union budget, citing "injustice" to the state in funding, and non-fulfilment of bifurcation promises. The break of the alliance comes before the Lok Sabha election and the assembly elections due next year.

The Bill was introduced in the backdrop protests over the almost Rs 12,700 crore fraud at Punjab National Bank in which businessman Nirav Modi is allegedly involved.

Speaking to Frontline, Hari Babu, the BJP's Lok Sabha member from Visakhapatnam, tried to make light of the drift by saying that Modi was busy preparing to leave for Rajasthan the next day and was caught up that evening in a Cabinet meeting when Chandrababu Naidu called.

When the House met at 11 am, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu appealed to members to allow the proceedings, but adjourned the proceedings the moment members from parties of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, TMC and Congress were on their feet.

However, the members in Well, including those from TDP who were demanding special status for Andhra Pradesh and AIADMK who were seeking immediate setting up of Cauvery River Management Board, continued to raise slogans and displaying placards.

Serena Williams to play Venus in Indian Wells third round
Still showing some rust from her long layoff, Serena hit just one ace and made 37 unforced errors to 32 for Bertens. The third round encounter between the two Williams sisters is already being touted as match of the tournament.

However, these could not come up today after proceedings were disrupted by the opposition protests. "This is too much", Naidu said asking members to go back to their seats.

The Chief Minister further cried foul and said that Union Minister Piyush Goyal denied an appointment to the TDP MPs and chose to meet YSRCP MPs.

"The main aim of the policy is to achieve 42 lakh tonne marine exports, which support the government revenues to the tune of Rs 80,000 crore by 2020", Mr. Naidu said. But, both the aspirations were shattered with the Centre not fulfilling the promises made to AP and the BJP unilaterally announcing to snap ties with the TDP in Telangana, Naidu said.

TDP Supremo and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu held a teleconference with party MPs on March 14. But this doesn't mean the TDP will be joining hands with Congress either.

Amid the noisy protests, Minister of State for Drinking Water and Sanitation S.S. Ahluwalia laid on the table of the House the statement regarding the status of implementation of recommendations contained in the 35th report of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Rural Development on Demands for Grants (2017-18).
