Amazon is today expanding Alexa calling and messaging, bringing the ability to place calls and send messages to Fire, Android, and iOS tablets.

"We are changing that phrase to be "Alexa, can you laugh?' which is less likely to have false positives, and we are disabling the short utterance 'Alexa, laugh".

Last year Amazon added the Alexa calling feature to Echo devices, essentially turning your smart speaker into a phone. For all non-Amazon tablets, users will first have to launch the Alexa app before they can make calls and send messages.

Users will need to download the Alexa app on iOS or Android to make this system work.

Militants 'Capture District Headquarters' In Afghan Province
The attack triggered a deadly skirmish between fighters from the militant movement and security forces. The Taliban immediately claimed responsibility saying the district is now under their control.

If you are a Fire tablet owner, all you need to do is tap the home button and ask Alexa to make a call for you. For a long time now, the Amazon Echo devices have had the ability to talk to one another. I guess you can say that Amazon has introduce intercom inside you home, am I right? Canada, Mexico, and the United States are now the only countries that have this new feature available as well.

The Amazon Echo and Echo Dot are pretty similar in functionality, but the main difference is that the Echo Dot is much smaller and doesn't have as great of a speaker inside.

But you can also enable remote Drop In for specified contacts. This feature was also previously available mostly between Echo devices, rather than by using other technology items that weren't designed by Amazon.

So from now on, you can keep in touch with basically anyone who has the Alexa app installed on their device.
