Nintendo's profits jump as Switch sells 7.2 million units

Nintendo confirms Mario Kart Tour, launch window for Switch Online service

"Nintendo 3DS hardware sales did not weaken after the launch of Nintendo Switch", adds the report.

Nintendo also said it now expects to sell 15 million units of its Switch gaming console in the year ending March 2018, after previously raising the forecast to 14 million. Nintendo almost doubled the lifetime sales of the hardware during the holiday quarter, and even that impressive showing apparently didn't maximize potential sales.

Japanese videogames maker Nintendo reported its biggest third-quarter operating profit in eight years, driven by demand for its new Switch games console, and said it expected annual earnings to outstrip its previous estimate.

Critics have been bowled over by its home-grown titles such as Super Mario Odyssey and Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, and the games have won awards. The Switch is now the fastest- home console in U.S. history.

That overtakes the Wii U's lifetime hardware sales total of 13.56 million between its November 17, 2012 launch and when it was discontinued on January 31, 2017.

Then the timeline shifted and reporters were told that Campos was actually shot by Paddock six minutes before the attack began. A LinkedIn account that appears to belong to him says he also works at a company called Specialized Military Ammunition .

Nintendo has had a whopping series of profits coming in due to its sales drive. The device's second year on the market will prove the test of whether it can surpass the Wii, Nintendo's best-selling console, which reached 24.83 million units in its second year. Squid-based shooter Splatoon has sold through 4.91 million units.

In short, the Nintendo at the start of 2018 looks nothing like the Nintendo that started off 2017. Nintendo has even made a habit of advertising "Nindies" more prominently with regular dedicated Directs.

Nintendo posted an operating profit of $1.07 billion for the third quarter, up nearly four-fold from a year ago.

In what may just be the most inevitable milestone in video game history, Nintendo has announced that the Switch has officially outsold the Wii U.

As you can see in the infographic below, total shipments for the Switch reached 14.86million units as of December 3st.
