Jennifer Lawrence stars in a brand new second trailer for Red Sparrow, along with new poster artwork. After much torture and the "sadistic training process" of the Sparrow School, Dominika comes out the most risky Sparrow the school has ever produced.
The full Red Sparrow trailer builds on the wonderfully ominous teaser, this time detailing the backstory of Lawrence's character, Dominika Egorova.
The synopsis of the film reads: "When she suffers a career-ending injury, Dominika and her mother are facing a bleak and uncertain future". As she comes to terms with her new abilities, Dominika meets a Central Intelligence Agency agent who tries to convince her that he is the only person she can trust.
How to Watch Celta Vigo vs. Real Madrid
A wonderful strike from Luis Milla from the edge of the area broke the deadlock and many felt Navas should have done better. Defending champions Madrid and their stuttering season continued on Monday (AEDT), held to a 2-2 draw by hosts Celta Vigo .
Red Sparrow also stars Joel Edgerton (Bright, Black Mass), Matthias Schoenaerts (The Danish Girl), Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds), and Ciarán Hinds (Justice League). Red Sparrow reunites Lawrence with her Hunger Games: Mockingjay director Francis Lawrence. The trailer is essentially her origin story on fast forward, as we witness the way that she was lured into the service of her government to become a Sparrow, through a harsh regime that was created to strip away her old identity and transform her into an unfeeling killer. They tend to be much more political. "And that's what this story is".
Whether Red Sparrow can differentiate itself from its obvious fictional predecessors remains to be seen, especially since the project seems extremely indebted to Marvel's preexisting character (who was even trained in a "red room"!). Powerful people recruit her and force her to undergo rigorous training. "I'll find a way", she replies coolly. Audiences responded to Lawrence's Katniss Everdeen in Hunger Games because she was a plucky survivor who ultimately became a hero in a larger sense.
"Red Sparrow" is based on the book by the same name by Jason Matthews.
