The 6-foot-3, 170-pound defensive back, out of Wesley Chapel High School (Zephyrhills, Florida), was the most likely prospect to decommit in Oregon's class if Taggart left for Florida State.

Willie Taggart has accepted a head coaching position with Florida State, ESPN's Edward Aschoff reported Tuesday.

"His values are in line with ours, with academics as important as the product on the field", said Ed Burr, chairman of Florida State's board of trustees.

The 41-year old Bradenton native coached at South Florida for four seasons before going to Oregon.

At Oregon, Taggart's team was averaging 49.6 points per game as it got off to a 4-1 start.

As the ink is still drying on Jimbo Fisher's monster 10-year, $75 million contract with Texas A&M, his previous school found his replacement in Tallahassee.

Obama expected to attend climate summit in Chicago
The former President said as much during a meeting with " Les Napoleons " in Paris, and many on social media are sounding off. That was the paycheck Obama cashed after speaking to a Wall Street bank in September.

It's impossible to foresee how Taggart will fare in a prestigious program like Florida State.

Taggart has a 47-50 career record, including 7-5 this season, but is known as a rebuilder. Before that he was the head coach at South Florida, where he recorded a 24-25 record.

Florida State finished this season 6-6 and will play Southern Miss in the Independence Bowl. From there, the Ducks lost four of their next five after an injury to starting quarterback Justin Herbert. In eight seasons, Fisher went 83-23 (.783) and guided the Seminoles to three ACC titles as well as the 2013 national championship.

Taggart is considered a skilled recruiter, and given his ties to Florida, he should have success in a talent-rich state. After quarterback Deondre Francois was injured in the highly-anticipated opener against Alabama, FSU, ranked No. 3 to begin the season, got off to a awful 2-5 start.

Taggart led the Ducks to a 7-5 record this season, despite being without starting quarterback Justin Herbert for a big chunk of the season, and they'll play No. 25 Boise State in the AutoNation Cure Bowl in Las Vegas on December 16.
