Toddlers hilariously fight over baby Jesus during church nativity: watch video

A Christmas Nativity pageant in Jefferson County, Tennessee, turned into chaos when a 2-year-old "sheep" tried to steal the Baby Jesus and "Mary" tried to step in.

An American mum shared a video of her daughter's school nativity play, where the young tot goes a little shall we say, off-script.

A little girl playing a sheep decided she wanted the baby Jesus for herself.

Benson said in her Facebook post, that has since gone viral, that she laughed until she cried.

"These kids both love our church, love being here and both have a passion for Jesus, and so I think the message that we want to get across is He is the reason for Christmas", Benson told KHOU.

Dressed as a sheep, she decides to pick up the Jesus doll from the manger, rocking it in her arms with a big smile facing the audience. She couldn't resist stealing baby Jesus, a baby doll, and then dancing with him on stage to "Away in a Manger".

Benson said the video is amusing but also touches on the true meaning of Christmas. "So (she) was not having it, and she knew we were not supposed to touch the Baby Jesus so she made sure that Teegan knew for sure that that was unacceptable". "I didn't push her".

'Everyone is very welcome to join us as we re-tell the story of this very special night when we greet the baby Jesus, born to be the King of Kings, the Prince of Peace and the Light of the World'.
