Google Maps gets 'Two-wheeler' mode in India, can suggests road closures and parking status

The most popular navigation support provider, Google Maps has introduced a new two-wheeler mode in their maps and it is an India-first feature.

India overtook China to become the world's leading motorcycle and scooter market a year ago.

"We don't adapt maps for India".

So far, this feature seems limited to India only, but it may expand to other areas where motorcycles are a more prevalent mode of transportation.

Willie Taggart slated as FSU's new head coach
In eight seasons, Fisher went 83-23 (.783) and guided the Seminoles to three ACC titles as well as the 2013 national championship. Taggart is considered a skilled recruiter, and given his ties to Florida, he should have success in a talent-rich state.

As seen in the above screenshots, for four-wheelers, Google Maps recommends using Eastern Freeway while it displays a regular route for two-wheelers.

The Indian market has been a prime region of focus for Google and it gives an impression that the latest feature in Google Maps is an indicator of the same.

The new option for "two wheeler" navigation appears next to drive in Google Maps. That is a good thing for regular vehicle drivers, too, as it could potentially help alleviate congestion on roads, cutting down on transit times for everyone. Google Maps now show routes particularly personalized for the motorcycle or bicycle riders when they search for locations around them. Thus a biker can take shortcuts and reach the destination faster using maps. Mashable notes that Google Maps' motorbike routing feature will also offer users transit time estimates that are better suited to their vehicle type, helping them better estimate how long it will take them to get to their destination. Google is rolling out a dedicated two-wheeler mode for Google Maps in the country famous for its traffic and tight roads.

Other countries will also benefit from this feature, so all bikers making worldwide trips, have a reason to cheer.
