As Games on Facebooks Messenger service turns 1-year old, they've taken the wraps off some new features that will get users excited including live streaming of games, multi-player gaming in video chat and of course more games, including the game that's everywhere: Angry Birds. And also allows users to add fun effects (pictured above) during their video chat. Like all posts, these live video posts can be deleted at any time.
Facebook Inc. today is expanding Instant Games with new features, including additional games, live streaming and a video chat feature that will be available early next year.
This is a great tool for broadcasters or just friends to use to enhance their connections and conversations with friends.
Facebook also announced that it plans to test a feature that lets users video chat while gaming, as well. The feature will enable people to play games while video chatting with each other, and be able to use filters and capture pictures as they would within a normal video chat. Interestingly, for what may be a first in games, there are more females on the platform than males. The feature will also allow friends to watch each other's reactions as they score in the game. First launching globally is the Angry Birds, built for Messenger.
"This progress is exciting, but even more than that, we've been thrilled at the response over the past year from both the people playing and the developers building", Facebook said. Both games have been built by CoolGames, an Instant Games platform developer.
