Jared Goff completed 25 of 37 passes for 355 yards and three touchdowns. Keenum did throw two interceptions in the second half that frustrated Zimmer. But it's turned out to maybe be Minnesota's best move of the offseason and Keenum has played like a starter thus far.
There had been speculation that Teddy Bridgewater, who was recently activated after his inspiring recovery from a major knee injury, would get the nod ahead of Keenum despite the team reeling off five straight wins behind some big performances by the journeyman QB out of Houston.
Now while Bridgewater could have played on Sunday, Keenum was just on fire too much for him to sit out, and that is what Mike Zimmer thought as well. Bridgewater will continue to serve as Keenum's backup in Week 11.
Trump nominates former pharma exec Alex Azar as health secretary
The nation's 45th president just tweeted that he has nominated Alex Azar as the next secretary of Health and Human Services. Bush , is known as a detail-oriented bureaucrat who understands how to work the regulatory system to get things done.
This week, Keenum will have the challenge of playing against a team he was part of the last two seasons. Keenum has outperformed the expectations of a backup and has the Vikings sitting on top of the NFC North. Goff is at the helm of an offense on pace to lead the league in scoring after finishing dead last in points past year. Bridgewater last started a game since January 2016.
"He's a great dude", Keenum said of Goff. "I'm excited, I really am".
With that said, it would not be a shock to see Teddy take over under center Sunday should Keenum struggle early. Their defense is very comparable to the same unit of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Keenum's performance against the Steelers in Week 2 is arguably his worst of the year. "Otherwise, he wouldn't dress" on the active roster on Sundays, Zimmer said.
