"Seven days a week, 365 days a year, we open our doors to the hungry and homeless for three meals each day", said Rev. Donovan Coley, CEO/Senior Pastor of The Rescue Mission.
Everything served at the meal was donated by area individuals and groups, or bought with cash donations.
This is her fifth year volunteering for Thanksgiving. "There's tons of folks in our community that have nothing", said Ernie Mills Jr. with the Rescue Mission, "To hang tens of thousands of articles of clothing out here and say "if you need it, come get it' that's a big deal".
Donovan worked with the Union Gospel Mission and got their volunteers to deliver a hot, traditional Thanksgiving meal in the building's first floor community room. "There's people that aren't getting any food or any visitors on Thanksgiving day, and we've been blessed so we might as well give it back", said one volunteer, Retha Jones.
20 gallons of gravy are on the stove and 1,200 pounds of turkey are in the oven at the Syracuse Rescue Mission today.

3300 turkey dinners were delivered to people Thursday morning thanks to generous volunteers. Just to help someone out, it's a feeling I can't describe.
"It makes me feel very proud because this is one less thing they have to worry about this time of year", she said.
"When I needed something they were here".
