David Johnson Suffers Sprained Wrist

Golladay, who had gotten behind the Cardinals defense, laid out for the catch and rolled into the end zone.

But the Lions secondary made plays, snagging two first-half interceptions.

David Johnson's hasn't had an easy start to the 2017 season and now it includes a wrist injury suffered against the Detroit Lions in Week 1.

The Lions defense would come through again in the second quarter when safety Glover Quin intercepted another Palmer overthrow. That capped a 94-yard, 12-play drive. More impressive was how he did it, doing a lot of his work after injuring his left hand early in the second half.

The spread is a tight one in this matchup, and the game is going to play that way.

This year's Arizona Cardinals' offense was supposed to look more like its 2015 version, when it led the National Football League in total yards, than the 2016 edition.

The Lions defense also successfully held Arizona's All-Pro running back David Johnson to just 23 rushing yards on 11 attempts.

What I didn't like: Dwayne Washington as a kick returner - and neither did the Lions. Detroit just backed up a Brinks truck to Matt Stafford's house so the confidence is certainly there that he can lead them to the Super Bowl and if the likes of Golden Tate, Marvin Jones, Eric Ebron, and Ameer Abdullah can stay healthy and productive the Lions are certainly on the radar as a potential playoff team. Plus, he didn't get into the end zone in a season opener for the first time in his career.

Stafford finished the day completing 29 of his 41 passes for 291 yards, four touchdowns and one interception.

Another week, another new punter?: It might be the case for Detroit after Kasey Redfern injured his knee running out of the end zone after he dropped a ideal snap from Don Muhlbach.
